We have been thinking a lot about this and we can tell that the most proxies are hosted in the US. We estimate that there are 11000 proxies (fully available to the public) hosted in the US. Considering the relation of 1 to 3 between public and private proxies (there are password protect and used by a limited group of people) we estimate that in the US there are more than 44000 web proxies in use on daily basis.
Most of these proxies have a medium traffic – approximate 2000 unique visits per day (25000 hits) so 8.8 million of people are using US proxies on daily basis.
Far from US there are other countries that allow proxy usage – like Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. More reports and approximate usage of proxies will be available in our future posts.

there are definetlly at least as many proxies that you have mentioned. on my web site there are at least 400 users who are using proxies and checking the ip address.
